A Day of Patriotism, Service and Heartwarming Moments with Our CP Unit Children

Independence Day Celebration 2026 at Ambattur Rotary Hospital

The Rotary Club of Ambattur proudly celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on Saturday, 15 August 2026, at Ambattur Rotary Hospital. The occasion brought together Rotary members, hospital staff, donors, guests, CP Unit children and their parents in a spirit of patriotism, service and togetherness.

The programme began with the traditional Kuthuvilakku lighting by Chief Guest AKS Rtn. Dr. Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan, along with Ann. Jayashree, Ann. Dr. Veena, Ann. Sheela Udayabhanu and Ann. Mala Ramachandran. This was followed by the flag hoisting and National Anthem. The Chief Guest was welcomed by Rtn. Sambasiva, while Ann. Jayashree Parasuram led the prayers. Rtn. T. Parasuram, Managing Trustee of Ambattur Rotary Charitable Trust, delivered the welcome address, followed by the President’s address by Rtn. Dr. Winston Noronha.

Donors were honoured for their valuable support towards the hospital’s service initiatives. Rtn. Udaya Bhanu, Chairman of the Ambattur Rotary Hospital Committee, introduced the Chief Guest, who shared inspiring thoughts on service, leadership and community development.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the event was the interaction with CP Unit children and their parents. Parents expressed their appreciation for the dedicated physiotherapists and the continued care provided by the CP Unit. The children then presented a special programme, confidently portraying political leaders, community workers and other personalities, highlighting the values of leadership and service. Gifts were distributed to the children, bringing joy to both the children and their families.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rtn. Suresh Babu. Later, 36 members gathered for lunch at Eternal Restaurant, Nityamrutham, Haddows Road, Chennai, offering a pleasant opportunity to connect and celebrate together.

The Independence Day Celebration was a memorable success, filled with patriotism, joy and meaningful moments of service and fellowship.
